Guides, manuals, and implementation tools for malaria rapid diagnostic tests

Guides, manuals, and implementation tools for malaria rapid diagnostic tests

Overview

FIND and partners, such as WHO, TDR, USAID, URC, Malaria Consortium, U.S. CDC, Johns Hopkins, Unitaid, PSI, Unicef, RBM, PMI, have produced several tools to improve the use, implementation, and post-market surveillance of malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDTs). These materials are aimed at implementers of mRDTs, mainly at the community and small clinic levels.

The tools include training manuals, job aids, and results interpretation guides for generic RDTs, but also for specific RDT products, adapted by FIND at the request of national malaria control programmes and NGOs. Transport and storage guides are available with practical recommendations shown in a simple and pictorial manner. A troubleshooting guide, an RDT problems protocol and a job aid for the use of Positive Control Wells have also been developed to help with verifying, addressing and managing potential quality problems, hereby supporting post-market surveillance processes in endemic countries.
